City of La Paz

City of La Paz

La Paz is a beautiful city located on the Pacific coast of Baja California Sur, and it’s well worth seeing during your vacation in Cabo.

Why La Paz Baja Sur is Worth Visiting

La Paz is the capital city of the Mexican state of Baja California Sur. It is located near the southern tip of Mexico, making it the furthest south major city in Mexico. The water off shore provides some amazing views for tourists who are also able to enjoy things like kayaking and scuba diving.

One fun activity in La Paz includes visiting famous landmarks such as El Arco de Cabo San Lucas (“The Arch” or “Cape San Lucas”). This landmark was created when wind, water, and sand did what they do best over many years. Because the arch may only be viewed at particular times of day (during sunrise or sunset) it’s always an added bonus to plan a trip around this natural sight.

When visiting La Paz it’s also worth taking a day trip to El Vizcaíno Biosphere Reserve, which is one of the most beautiful natural reserves in all of Mexico. It was actually selected as a United Nations World Heritage Site on December 2, 1994 and features everything from beaches to lagoons and mangroves. The wildlife here is very diverse and includes gray whales, sea lions, crabs, flamingos, javelinas (peccaries), cacti and more!

La Paz Baja Sur is not only a great place for vacationers – it’s also a great place to live or retire . In fact, Morgan Stanley named it the best city in Mexico for families with children.

What to do in La Paz Baja California

There are many fun things to do in La Paz Baja California and we’ve put together a list of our favorites:

Whale Sharks Watching

One of the most popular attractions is watching whales while on a boat tour. They migrate to this area, which lies between the Baja Peninsula and mainland Mexico starting in December and ending in March. You can watch them from land or take a boat out into the sea where you will get much closer to them than you would if you could only see them from shore.

Note: There are many companies that offer whale watching tours; be sure to ask for details such as what time of day the tour begins, how long it lasts, whether meals are included, etc.

Scuba Diving In Cabo Pulmo.

Scuba Diving/Snorkeling

This is a popular activity for people of all ages. The Sea of Cortez can be very calm and clear at times, which allows the diver to take in the rich sea life that exists below water. You can also snorkel or scuba dive at night when fish are more active.

Rock Climbing

There are beautiful rocks across from La Paz that offer interesting routes for climbers of different skill levels to practice on.

Mountain Biking

It’s a great way to see parts of the city you normally wouldn’t get to go exploring in as well as enjoy nature without having it too far away from you.

Desert/Canyon

If you head north from La Paz Mexico, you will come upon a desert landscape with canyons and rock formations. It’s a great way to enjoy time outside while experiencing the natural beauty of the area around it.
